George brings over twenty years of experience in residential real estate, including; sales, brokerage, development, investment, financing, management, and personal representation.
Currently the Co-President and managing Director of Compass Architecture + Design, he is responsible for articulating, crafting, and launching a dedicated division devoted to building awareness, education, and sales of significant architectural properties in the United States, starting with Southern California.
With a particular focus on premiere architecture, luxury estates, and historic properties, George has successfully represented luminaries, executives, high-net-worth individuals, and institutions in selling and sourcing their "Home as art."
In September 2023, Compass acquired George’s firm Deasy Penner Podley. (
www.dppre.com) There he acted as Chief Executive Officer — responsible for both the day-to-day operations and its long-term strategic vision. For 2022, with 200+ sales agents and a support staff of 25, Deasy Penner Podley successfully closed 1300+ transactions with sales in excess of $1.3 billion. In 2020, Deasy Penner Podley was named “Most Innovative Brokerage” globally by Leading Real Estate Companies of the World.
George Penner is also the co-founder and CEO of plumBid (
www.plumBid.com) a technology start-up company focused on providing a seamless consumer-focused, agent-friendly negotiation platform to provide greater transparency and true market value pricing in real estate.
Prior to DPP, George was the COO of architectural real estate brokerage firm, Mossler Deasy & Doe and he coordinated the formulation of the nation’s premier ranch brokerage, Ranch Marketing Associates.
Before real estate, George was Senior Vice President and Director of Online Communications at Deutsch Inc.—a dominant advertising agency that garnered significant attention during his tenure, winning Adweek’s “Agency of the Year” for three consecutive years. Throughout his advertising career, he has played an extensive role in internet marketing, having created the first Honda.com, as well as guiding online marketing initiatives for companies such as Sony Entertainment and Expedia.com.
He has a BA in History from DePauw University, is a NOLS graduate, and was a commissioned officer in the United States Naval Reserve.
